Ok, so you have completely guessed it- I'm going crazy.
CRAZY FOR A CURE!!
As a new Leukemia & Lymphoma Society employee, I have decided to tackle another endurance event in honor of one of my high school friends who was recently diagnosed with Stage 2 Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I graduated with him back in 2006 and he is currently undergoing chemotherapy. In his honor, I will be running 26.2 miles in the ING Miami Marathon on January 29th, 2012 and I will be doing my training, once again with Team in Training.
I know I have just asked for your support with the triathlon, but if there is anything you can help out with, I am asking you to please to do. This organization means the world to me and I know that it means the world to our patients- this year alone we have already raised over $74 million to fund blood cancer research.
Thank you again for your support- stay tuned for my progress!!!

9.11.01 Ten Years Later
9.11.01
Ten years later, we still remember. Ten years later we have not forgotten. Ten years ago I never imagined I would be living in the city that was stricken with tragedy- I was sitting in my 8th grade classroom wondering what exactly the World Trade Center Towers were. But ten years later, I sit here, in my apartment on the upper west side and realize that we are still here, we move on, but we don't forget those we have lost and those who were affected.
I know that I speak for everyone when I say thank you to everyone in our armed forces, for those who put their lives on the line everyday, for those who put this country first. They are the ones who make us proud to be an American citizen- we can't thank them enough for everything that they do.
As I sat here this morning watching the Tribute to 9/11 on the local news channel- that's when it really hits you- ten years may seem like a long time, but it is not. A 10 year old boy was on tv reading off the names of those who were lost and at the end he concluded that he was up there in remembrance of his father. He was only 9 months old when his father died rushing into the towers and he wished he had known him better- that's when it hits you and that's when we realize that we can't forget what has happened, but we can continue honoring those we have lost.
Last week I actually trekked down to see the new memorial where the Trade Centers were located. They didn't have everything opened yet like they did on television this morning but the buildings look gorgeous!
Progress is being made as you can see- it is absolutely beautiful! The hole in our famous skyline will finally be filled in- and while we can't fill up that hole in our hearts, we know that we can stand here as one and keep moving forward...
God bless this country and god bless my beautiful city- we will always stand strong.
